James Gordon "Tip" Durham, 77, of Port Neches, Texas died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, Texas.

Tip was born September 5, 1933 in Woodville, Texas to Hill Clinton Durham, Sr. and Annie Mae Bertrum Durham. A resident of Port Neches for 67 years he was a retired PN-G ISD Teacher with 31 years of service and also the announcer for PN-G Football, Baseball and Track for 46 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Nederland, Port Neches Masonic Lodge #1163, Port Neches 413 R.& S.M., Port Neches 436 R.A.M., Commandery # 38 Knights Templar of Texas, 32 Degree Mason and member of Scottish Rite. He was also a US Army Veteran.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Mr. Michael Williams, Mr. Ron Thompson and Mr. Tony Fitzgerald officiating. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville, Texas.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hill Clinton Durham, Sr. and Annie Mae Bertrum Durham, sister, Rosalie Durham Miller, brothers, Marion Richard "Tex" Durham and Hill C. Durham, Jr.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Charlotte Raye Durham of Port Neches, Texas; son, James Gordon Durham, II and wife, Ronda of Port Neches, Texas; sister, Opal Durham Gilchriest of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; grandchildren, Evelyn Kay Durham and Philip James Durham.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tip Durham Memorial Scholarship Fund for PN-G Students at MCT Credit Union account #38163.
