William married Lavina "Lovy" Saylor on December 25, 1871 in Avondale, Kentucky. Lovy was born on August 22, 1857 in Puckett's Creek, Harlan County, Kentucky, and the daughter of Levi W. Saylor and Mary "Polly" Helton. William was listed as farmer on his death certificate, and told was a Minister of Silver Leaf Baptist Church in Rose Hill, Lee County, Virginia. His photos read William A. Lee, 1855-1935, and Baptist Preacher & Congregation at Martins Fork, Virginia.

Maternal Grandparents were Nancy Green and Jesse Taylor, and Paternal Grandparents were Joicey Napier and Stephen Lee.
