Charles L. Allen
Manhattan-Charles L. Allen, 67, Manhattan, died Saturday, Sept. 29, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Allen worked for Bird Music Co., at Manhattan for 25 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was born May 23, 1917, at Manhattan, the son of Arch and Pearl Bowers, Allen.
Mr. Allen was a member of Lee Pierson Post No. 1786 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pierce-Keller Post No. 17 of the American Legion, Benevolent and Protective Oder of Elks Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie, all at Manhattan.
His wife, Mrs. Dicey Allen , died in 1980.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Frances Turner, Marion; his stepmother, Mrs. Regina Butts, Manhattan; four sisters, Mrs. Betty Woods and Darlene Allen, both of Topeka, and Mrs. Evelyn Keller and Mrs. Pattie Jensen, both of Manhattan; three brothers, Ray Allen, Manhattan, Ed Allen, Wichita, and Jon Allen, Las Cochas, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cowan-Edwards-Yorgensen Funeral Home in Manhattan. Burial will be in Riley Cemetery.
