Served in the 1st Dragoons, Company H during the Mexican War.

Quarter Master Sergeant, Company M, 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Enlisted on November 7, 1862. Transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps by General Orders No. 307 on September 1, 1863. Discharged by surgeon's certificate, date unknown (based on pension record, probably 1864). Also listed as Findley.

Filed for a pension on September 2, 1864, application number 50,883, certificate 44,671. Admitted to the National Military Home, Dayton, Ohio on June 24, 1874 with disability listed as back injury to due to fall from horse.

Gravesite Details Headstone incorrectly lists regiment as Infantry. Infantry regiments were limited to 10 companies and did not have companies L & M.
