JOHN HENRY TALLENT DIES AT HIS HOME
NEAR VARDAMAN, MISS. ON MAY 12, 1949
Vardaman, Miss., May 14, 1949--- Mr. John Henry Tallent, retired farmer, dies at his home near this place on Thursday morning, May 12, 1949. Funeral services were held from Rocky Mount Baptist Church on Friday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Floyd Brasher and Rev. Herman Bryant, followed by interment in the Rocky Mount Cemetery. Thornton Funeral Home directed the rites.
Mr. Tallent was 67 years of age. He was a member of the Church of God. He was a good citizen and was in highest respect by all who knew him. He was a native of Calhoun County, Miss. and resided near this place all his life.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Ellen Adams Tallent, of Vardaman, Miss.; by four sons, H. P. Tallent, Dan Tallent, Jess Tallent, all of Vardaman, Miss., and Lester Tallent, of Houlka, Miss.; by six daughters, Mrs. Willie Morphis, Mrs. Fay Huffman, of Vardaman, Miss., Mrs. Irene Morphis, Bruce, Miss., Mrs. Eula Cardwell, of Houston, Miss., Mrs. Birdie Westmoreland, of Houlka, Miss., and Thelma Clark, of Detroit, Mich.; by one brother, Will Tallent, of Vardaman, Miss., and one sister, Mrs. Jack Adams, Pittsboro, Miss.
