Roy (Coach) Langerhans, 87, of Anson, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at Anson General Hospital in Anson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Anson with the Rev. P.B. Middlebrook officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
Family visitation will be held today, Wednesday, Aug. 11, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Adams-Graham Funeral Home 732 Ave I, Anson.
Born May 19, 1923, in Fredericksburg, Langerhans was the son of August John Langerhans and Bianca Blanche Ransleben Langerhans. He married Grace Utsey on June 12, 1948, in Brady and she survives.
Langerhans was a graduate of Southwest Texas State University where he received bachelor's and master's degrees in education.
A teacher and coach for 34 years, Langerhans began his career in Fredericksburg and later moved to Anson where he remained until his retirement in 1982.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of First United Methodist Church in Anson.
In addition to his wife, Langerhans is survived by two sons, one daughter and spouses, including Randy and Gigi Langerhans of Weatherford; Larry Langerhans of Anson, and Marsha and Gary Roan of Moran; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Johnny Langerhans and Chester Langerhans, and one sister, Louis Leazer.
Pallbearers include Jerry Andrus, Eddie Farnsworth, Mitch Hall, Dewain Finley, Thomas Martin and Lindsey Encke.
Honorary pallbearers are Dan Anderegg, Fred Dietel, Tony Knopp, Tom Burks, Wayne Bonner, Mark Langerhans, Jimmy Langerhans, Joe Langerhans and John David Langerhans.
