Major Cargill is buried in the National Cemetery Margraten, Holland. He was a pilot of a C-47, Sky Train, Transport. Returning from a mission, his plane was hit by anti aircraft fire near Wesel Germany. He paid the supreme sacrifice for his country that others might enjoy the freedom of a great nation.
Among his citations were the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Four Oak Leaf Clusters with four bronze stars and the Purple Heart.
