Age 63. Saturday, March 23, 2002 after a short illness.
Survived by sons, Steve, Daniel and John Nickl; daughter, Nicole (Dale) George; granddaughter, Miranda Elizabeth George; sisters, Mary and Anna along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Josef and Barbara (Klaus) Nickl and a brother, Anton Nickl.
Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, Joliet area resident his entire life. Employed for 34 years at Joliet Wrought Washer Co. in Rockdale and recently retired from Stone Container Co. after nine years. Longtime member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church. An active gardner, he loved sports and was a manager for Crest Hill Boys Baseball. Steve appreciated a hard days work, a good meal and a cold beer. He also loved and adored his granddaughter and couldn't spend enough time with her.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 26, 2002 from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home at 9:30 AM to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Interment St. Mary Nativity Cemetery, Crest Hill. Visitation Monday 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
