Donald worked at several , Ohio area factories, most recently Gorman Rupp. After moving to Texas in 1982 he was employed by several security firms and maritime ship engineering companies.

He was married to Patricia Ann Kuelling for many years and is survived by three children, Michael Dalton (Carmela) of Nederland, Texas, Deborah Barcus (Terrence) of Troy, Michigan, and LaDonna Crego (Jesse) of Mansfield, Ohio, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Jack Dalton (Betty) of Florida and William Dalton (Sarah) of Beaver, Ohio
