Born about 1825 in Vermont, he was living in Manchester, NH when he enlisted in NH 4th Regiment, Co E. on 3 Sept 1861 at age 37. He was killed in a long battle at Drewry's Bluff, VA 16 May 1864, 4 months shy of his 3 year contract.
He was married to Elizabeth, had 4 children and was a farm laborer in the 1860 census.
The front placque of this memorial was stolen many years ago, Pvt Richardson's placque is on the back side of this monument listing those names of soldiers who didn't return or grave site unknown.
This memorial was erected by Lt. Col. Francis Wayland Parker of the NH 4 Co E, Brevet Col. at time of discharge, he was wounded and a prisoner of war, survived but was in poor health. He died in 1902 and is buried in Piscataquog Cemetery, New Hampshire, County of Hillsborough.
