Billie James Mizer, 78, of Wichita, Ks, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011. Bill was born April 15, 1932 in Purdy, Missouri. Bill was the son of James L. Mizer and Naomi and Henry Ferguson of Missouri.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Wilma Hall, brother, Buddy Mizer and daughter, Rita Cabral.

Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie (of the home), Brothers, Bob Mizer (of Cassville, Mo.) and Charles Ferguson (of Mt. Vernon, Mo.), Sisters, Carole Garrison (of Purdy, Mo.) and Ruth Farmer (of Harrington, De.), and daughter Teresa Gleason (of Salina, Ks.)

Bill, otherwise known as "Pa," has 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

After serving 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, Bill went to work for Boeing for several years. He later became regional manager for Diebold Banking Systems until his retirement. Upon retirement, Bill enjoyed tutoring at Mary Benton Elementary, gardening, fixing things around the house and spending time with his family.

Bill was a great brother and a good friend. He was loved and admired by all who knew him. Bill was the center of his family and was a hero and role model to his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and their spouses. He will be missed greatly.

Viewing is January 27th from 4 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th in Salina, Ks. Funeral services are January 28th at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Foursquare Church, 1325 E. Cloud in Salina, Ks. Graveside services will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Memorials to Salina Christian Academy c/o Ryan Mortuary.
