Mrs. Eve Gross was born in Pennsylvania in 1796: died in Henryville, Clarke county, May 28, 1895, aged 99 years, 2 months and 26 days. Immigrated with her parents to Virginia when quite young. Was married to William Gross in 1816. Left Virginia and settled in Washington county, Ind., in 1826. She moved to Henryville, Clark county in October, 1852, where she lived till the day of her death. She was the mother of nine children, only one survives her. Wesley Gross, who is now 70 years old. She was a member of the Lutheran church and lived a consistent and devoted Christian until the day of her death. She was industrious, kink-hearted, and beloved by all who know her. “A good name is better than a precious ointment.” The funeral took place from the Conway church May 30, conducted by Rev. S.W. Applegate and attended by a large number of relatives and friends, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near by.
