The Ship "Barclay" left port in late summer of 1754 from Rotterdam under the command of Captain John Brown. Their destination was Philadelphia, PA. They disembarked on September 14, 1754. There were seven people in Hans Georg Hechler's family, himself, his wife, Susanna, their sons Martin age 19, George age 11, Jacob and two daughters, Elizabeth and Barbara. Hans Georg Hechler and Martin Hechler were among the forty one men who signed with an "X" when they disembarked. Hans Georg had to indenture himself to another person from Germany to pay for his family's passage from Germany. They moved to Manchester township, York County, PA in September 1761.
In 1762, Hans Georg and Martin made a down payment of 20 pounds on 185 acres of land from John Blasser. They still owed a 112 pounds to be paid in payments with the last payment to be 29 pounds. Martin moved to Mississippi, Georg moved to Virginia and Jacob stayed in PA.
