Obituary for Raymond Harrelson Spencer:

Daily Democrat, Clinton MO - Raymond Harrelson Spencer, the youngest son of Delbert Franklin and Lara Suffal Spencer, was born November 14, 1940, in Osceola. He died Thursday, December 25, 1997, at Golden Valley Hospital at the age of 57 years, one month and 11 days. At an early age Raymond's family moved to Clinton where he attended school. He obtained his GED in 1984. He began working at the age of 14. He worked for Riffel's Flowers, the hatchery, the lumber yard, built houses and ran his own trash service for several years. In 1973 he went to work for the City of Clinton. He was very dedicated to his job and worked until his health no longer allowed him to in October 1997. In 1961, Raymond married Charlotte Mae Hart. To this union five daughters were born, Rebecca, Margaret, Charlotte, Tonya and Jessica. He was a loving husband and father. He was a giving man, always putting others before himself. Throughout the years he was known as a "dad" to many neighborhood kids and special nephews and nieces. He was also a dedicated grandfather who always had time for his grandchildren. Raymond was a member in the Church of Christ. He enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed making his love of the outdoors a family occasion. Many family vacations revolved around hunting and camping. He wasn't a man that needed many material things. All he needed was the love of his family, the country, a rifle and fishing pole. An unfulfilled lifelong dream was to get to live in the country. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Charlotte, of the home; three daughters, Rebecca Blevins and husband, Dee, Lowry City, Margaret Parmalee and husband, Dennis, Clinton, and Tonya Campbell and husband, Wesley, Clinton; six grandchildren, Raymond, Amy, Kayla and Schaelyn Blevins, Lowry City, Ashley and Joseph Parmalee, Clinton; three sisters, Maxine Bennink and husband, Berthel, Lowry City, Laura Poisal, Garden City, Gert Cox, Clinton; one brother-in-law, LeRay Hart, Clinton; one sister-In-law, Darlene Hoyt, Deepwater; three special nephews, Joe Bennink, Overland Park, Kansas, Eddie Bennink, Shawnee, Kansas, and Jim Bennink, Lowry City; two special nieces, Gerty Johnson, Clinton, and Ellen Brown, Kansas City, Kansas, and many other nephews, nieces, family and friends. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Charlotte Ray and Jessica Ray; his parents, Frank and Addle; two brothers, Lee and Richard, and one sister, Dorthy. Funeral services were held Monday, December 29, at Consalus Chapel, Clinton. Burial was in Clinton Memory Gardens Cemetery.
