Robert Guy Ellison was born at Fort Baker, Marin County, north of the Golden Gate Bridge (long before the bridge was built). He traveled to the Phillippines with his family, but most of his life was spent in San Francisco. He would work two jobs to help support his family of eight children. He converted a small family home in Redwood City, California into a multiple unit apartment complex. He and his wife moved to the mountains in the early 1970's, and would remain there for the rest of their lives.
