He says he enlisted as a Private in Co. F of the 37th GA regt, Bates Brigade. He contracted measles and had pneumonia. He says his feet were frozen and his lungs affected. He spent time in Knoxville, Tn and Atlanta hosptials. There is a page by Mrs. L. A. Isbell which says he died on 9 Aug. 1896 in Franklin Co, GA.
