Lee Roy Brehmer went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 13, 2011. Lee Roy was the 3rd child born to Richard Robert Brehmer and Maximilliana Frantzen Brehmer on January 15, 1917 in Luckenbach, TX.

He joined the Army Air Force at the age of 17 and worked in the carpentry shop at Randolph Air Force Base. When his enlistment was up, it was apparent that World War Il was eminent. Rather than be drafted, he reenlisted.

He met his wife and soul mate, Elvira Anna Schiller, after she saw a picture of him in his uniform in his sister's room at nursing school. They began writing one another and were married August 19, 1943, in Austin, Texas. They were only married 5 days when he got orders that he was being sent to Europe. Because he was fluent in German, he served as an interpreter after the allies went into Germany. He returned to Texas and having the opportunity to go to school on the GI Bill, he went to watch repair school in Peoria, Illinois.

He and wife, Elvira, started a jewelry business in Kerrville in 1948. Both worked daily in the store. Both were registered jewelers and members of AGS/GIA. Brehmers Jewelers was in business for 51 years.

Lee Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years. He is survived by daughters: Karen Saunders and husband Walter of Kerrville; Gaelynn Brougham of Kerrville; Donetta Ludwick and husband Larry of Mansfield, Texas; two grandchildren, Laurel Hanlon and husband Ryan of Virginia, Landon Ludwick and wife Lauren of North Carolina. Lee Roy was so proud that his great grandson, Jude Hanlon was born on his birthday, January 15, 2010.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and will be missed. Since he lost his wife in 2001, he has longed to be with her and now God has reunited them.

The family wishes to thank Dr. James Young for his loving care throughout Lee Roy's life and through his illness, Peterson Hospice and Grimes Funeral Chapels for the professional manner in which they handled arrangements.

Visitation is on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville.

Funeral services are Saturday, January 22, 2011, 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Hill Country Chapter, Kerrville.
