Homer R. Bartram, age 74 of Marengo died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

He was born in Lenore, West Virginia on February 18, 1935 to the late Ira and June (Canterbury) Bartram. A Marengo resident since 1972, he was a longtime employee of Marble Cliff Concrete in Columbus and retired from the Columbus Dispatch, where he worked in the transportation and trouble shooting department.

A member of Teamsters Local No 284 for over 40 years, he enjoyed bowling at various bowling lanes and leagues. A fan of western movies, he was meticulous mowing his yard, which was his favorite pastime. In fact he was known to have the finest cut grass in Morrow County. A story teller as well, he was characterized as "the old man" for his wisdom and ways.

He always wanted his family close and wished to be remembered as a great family man, husband, father, and grandfather.

Survived by his wife of 54 years: Gladys (Evans), sons: Dallas (Brenda) Bartram, Randy (Tina) Bartram all of Marengo, Homar R. (Cathy) Bartram II of Delaware, daughters: Sabrina (Johnny) Salazar of Marengo, Shelba (Scott) Miracle of Mt. Vernon, Christa Bartram of Marengo, brother: Foster (Hazel) Bartram of Florida, 13 Grandchildren, 10 Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Also preceded in death by grandson Ricky Knapp and sister Betty Johnson.

Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 229 in Marengo, where services will be held Wednesday 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gilbert R. Jarrell officiating, burial will follow in Fargo Cemetery.
