Ann C. Whitney-Casamento, 61, passed away at home in Medford on November 6th, 2010. She was born in Somerville on February 8th, 1949 to her parents Fred and Ann (Messino) Rapallo. Ann was raised and educated in Somerville and Arlington. She has been a resident of Medford since 1968. For over 20 years, Ann worked for the City of Somerville Housing Authority before taking a position as Executive Director for the Town of Lexington Housing Authority where she worked until her retirement in 2009. Ann was a member of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials and is past president of the National Housing Directors Association of Massachusetts. Ann is survived by her husband William J. Casamento; by her father Fred Rapallo of Medford; by her children; Robin Gigante and her husband Marc of Tewksbury, Jennifer Arsenault and her husband David of Pelham, NH and Philip Whitney of Medford; by her step-children; James Casamento and his wife Eva of Canton and Robert Casamento and his wife Carrie of Agawam; by her sister; Renee' Campbell and her husband Robert of Kansas City; and by her grandchildren Alissa, Lily, Whitney, Isabella, Jake, Giana, Andrew, Kayla, Nicholas, Matthew, Chelsea, Tyler and Benjamin. Ann was predeceased by her mother Ann (Messino) Rapallo. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday November 10th at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Medford at 11 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday November 9th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
