Marilyn F. Braun 85, Union Grove, died at her home on July 31, 2010, in the loving presence of her family. She was born Aug. 18, 1924, to the late George and Francis (Mogensen) Olson in Racine.
She attended St. Edwards Catholic and Park High schools before graduating from beauty school. She married Gailen Braun on Aug. 26, 1943. He preceded her in death.
According to her family she enjoyed being a homemaker and was very involved in her children's lives serving as a Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout Brownie leader. She was
a seamstress for her family and a member of the Homemaker's Club and the first Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. As a lifelong member of St. Robert's Catholic Church, she sang in the choir for many years. Later in life, she enjoyed the wildlife outside her home.
Survivors include her children, Patrick (Cathy), William (Rosalie), Randall (Lisa), Robin (Sue), Barbara Bernstein, Jacqueline (James) Hartnell, Mary (Marvin) Modder; son-in-law, Marcelino Rivera; grandchildren, Cary Hartnell, Clifton Hartnell, Stephania Rivera, Michael Braun, Nicole Lowery, Justin Braun, Christopher Braun, Jordan Braun; greatgrandchildren, Aiden Lowery, Conner Lowery, Andrew Hoey, Kristie Andreson, Kai Braun, Ryli Decorah; and brother-inlaw, Donald Olson. She was further preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Ann Rivera; and sister, Jeanne Tentcher.
Visitation is Saturday, Aug. 7, at St. Robert's Catholic Church, 3320 S. Colony Ave., Union Grove, from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, Union Grove, is assisting the family. Donations to the charity of your choice in memory of Marilyn are suggested.
