Clarence was born December 24, 1919, in Wolf City, Texas to William and Mattie Jane Cotter. He had been a long time Tucumcari resident and worked for many years in the Maintenance Department at Dr. Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital. In his spare time you could find him in his garage, working on lawn mowers and other small engines. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving Clarence Cotter are his two daughters, Barbara F. Lodholm and Julia J. Henderson both of Tucumcari, New Mexico; grandson, George Maes and Jessica of Carlsbad, New Mexico; great grandsons, Adam and Nicholas Maes; brothers, Jerry Cotter and Wanda of San Angelo, Texas, and Howard Cotter Of Ovalo, Texas; his sister, Willie Faye Sinnacher of Lubbock, Texas; sisters-in-law, Birdie Cotter, Dell Cotter, and Dorothy Cotter. Also included in his family are Dorothy Jiminez, Jerry Rivera, Rosalee Dominguez, and Melvin Jobe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by daughter, Bonita Elizabeth Cotter; by wives, Marjorie E. Cotter, Alisa Cotter, Rose Cotter, and Martha Cotter; by brothers, Wellborn, Ruben, Cliff, M.J., and Ray Cotter; by sisters, Rene Horton, Ethel McKinnon, and Addie Hill,
Graveside services celebrating his life will be Tuesday, January 25, 2011, in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery beginning at 10:00 AM with Pastor Brian Haines, Minister of the Assembly of God Church officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Cotter, Howard Cotter, Melvin Jobe, and Tommy Cordova. Interment will take place in the family plot of the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
