Edward R. "Ed" Fowler, 80, of Cheyenne went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 23 at the Davis Hospice Center.

Ed was born on May 15, 1930, to Chester and Winifred Fowler in Cheyenne.

He graduated from Cheyenne High School. Ed received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wyoming in 1975.

Ed served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and served in the Wyoming National Guard. Ed worked in the Historical Research/Restoration Division of the Wyoming State Museum until his retirement in 1991.

On July 23, 1988, Ed married Jo Ann Adsit, and her three children, Tim (Peg) Adsit, Jan Adsit Hurst and Wyn (Sandra) Adsit.

Ed loved music. While living in California, he played drums in various bands. He later returned to Cheyenne and became a member of the group "Jan and the Men of Note," playing as the house band at Little America. Ed was a historian in the field of Jazz.

He dearly loved his AA Program and his many friends. He was a member of the program for 23 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jo; his children, Lynn, Ted and Andy, all of California; his three step-children; nine grandchildren and five great-grand children; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Winifred Fowler; brothers, Ralph, George, John and Warren Fowler; and his sister, Helen Allen.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Methodist Church with Chaplain David Stratton officiating.

Friends may contribute to Davis Hospice Center, STRIDE Learning Center or the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
