Looking Back
1933 - 70 years ago (Roodhouse Record)
Peggy Sue Kemp, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Kemp who reside one mile north of Manchester, passed away May 12 after failing to respond to treatment for severe burns which she accidentally received on Wednesday. Her age was two years, two months and thirteen days.
The child's mother was preparing to do some washing and had taken a tub of hot water off the stove and placed it on the floor and then turned around for a moment to do something else and the little girl fell backwards into the tub of scalding water sustaining serious burns covering most of the body, chest, abdomen, back and thighs.
Dr. N.J. Bucklin of Roodhouse was summoned and gave first aid and the little patient was then taken to Passavant hospital where she passed away Friday.
