Patrick "Pat" Ballard, 82, Nelson county, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville. He was a native of Nelson County, a heavy equipment operator for 37 ½ years at Solite Company, Shepherdsville. He was a farmer, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, Colesburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Elsie Ballard; two sisters, Marita Palmer and Rose Lyvers; and a brother, John Ballard.

Survivors include his wife, the former Lola Marie Kinsey, Nelson County; two brothers, Mickey (Phyllis) Ballard, Cox's Creek, and J. R. Ballard, Greenbriar; a sister, Mary Burtch, Nazareth; a brother-in-law, Carl Lyvers, Bardstown; a sister-in-law, Norma Lee Ballard, Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Clare Catholic church, Colesburg, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Brian Kenney will officiate.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Kappel Funeral Home, Boston Chapel, Boston.

A prayer service will be 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Kappel Funeral Home, Boston Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
