Ralph Shaw Ferrin, 66, died January 2, 1992 in a Salt Lake Hospital after a life-long struggle with arthritis. He was born August 22, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John J. and Pearl Leone Shaw Ferrin. He married Shirlee Ann Bishop in the Salt Lake LDS Temple December 8, 1948. Ralph was an educator in every sense of the word. He graduated from West High School and received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the U of U. He served as an educator for 37 years, both as a teacher and administrator in Jordan School District. Ralph was a veteran of World War II serving in George S. Patton's 3rd Army. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has always played an important part in Ralph's life. He shared his knowledge and understanding of the scriptures with others in many teaching positions and in his daily living. His family was the most important thing in his life. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survived by wife, Shirlee, Midvale; sons John Ralph Ferrin and wife Gail, and Russell L. Ferrin and wife Diane, all Midvale; David M. Ferrin and wife Korinn, York, PA; seven grandchildren, Christine, Holly, Ryan, Alecia, Anja, Aubrey, and Austin David; sister, Leah Fay Evans, Salt Lake City; brothers, J. Jay Ferrin and Calvin D. Ferrin, both Farmington; Alvin G. Ferrin, West Valley City; mother-in-law, Margaret F. Meakin, Salt Lake City.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Steven Jay Anderson and the staff and physicians at St. Mark's Hospital for the loving and gentle care they gave him during his many illnesses.
Funeral Services Monday, January 6, 1 p.m. in the Midvale 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 97 West 7500 South. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Sunday 6-8 p.m. and at the ward on Monday one hour prior to services. Burial, Midvale City Cemetery.
