Believe he died before the 1880 census and his wife is found living in Boggard Co Missouri:
Per History of Carroll County MO, Page 470, William Sterne arrived in Section 30 Caroll County in 1848.
(Notes... so this can't be the William that received a land patent in 1845?)
Where was he from 1840 - Adams County Ohio (where his daughter was born) till his next child listed in 1843 born in Missouri?
This William was in Ohio abotu 1840
These Sternes are in Caroll County Missouri and buried in Caroma Cemetery
This was the same William Sterne in Ohio the same time our Charles was in Adams County Ohio.
1880 Bogart, Carroll Co., MO. It lists Margaret Sterne 65 b. VA with a son William H. Sterne age 26 b. MO and a daughter Margaret F 18 b. MO.
Her daughter-in-law was there, Martha 18 b. OH with a 1 year old daughter.

We belive the Charles Sterne b 1805 is his brother. They both lived at one time in Adams Co, Ohio as we put this together.
