He was born Oct. 22, 1917, in Rinard Mills, Monroe County, Ohio, a son of the late Charles Everett Ring and Mary Ida Piatt Ring.
He was a service station owner in Marietta and an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, being a tailgunner (1943-1945) with the 96th bomb group, 8th Air Force 337th Squadron. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW of Marietta.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Briggs Ring; and two sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Judith Finn of Novato, Calif., and Beverly Panelli of San Rafael, Calif.; two sisters, Marjorie Lindamood of Ohio and Ruth Thomas of Ohio; two grandchildren, Kelly Margaret Finn and Sean Richard Finn; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio. Interment in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodfield, with full military graveside services. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
