Barbara Ann Riihinen, 68, of Chisholm, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm after a long, courageous battle with cancer and fought to the end.
She was born Aug. 16, 1942, in Chicago, to Harold and Ann (Marko) Westphal. She was a 1960 graduate of Chisholm High School and had been a Chisholm resident since early childhood.
Barbara was united in marriage on Feb. 9, 1963, in Chisholm to Charles R. Riihinen. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and former member of Saints Peter and Paul Church. Her life revolved around her family, especially when it came to mealtime and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; children, Chris Riihinen, Rich (Heather) Riihinen, Dale Riihinen, and Vicki Riihinen; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; mother, Ann Westphal; special cousins, Kathy Michael and Joann Stehlin; other numerous cousins; special friends, Ruth Hill, Shirley and Ken Koester and her Hibbing Trap Club Family.
She was preceded in death by her father; and by a grandson, Taylor in 2010.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Chisholm Cemetery.
