Kenneth Earl Ruby was born December 13, 1911, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Cantwell) Ruby in Webb, Iowa. On November 7, 1936 he married Genevieve Pullman in Waterloo. Ken and Genevieve moved to Storm Lake in 1940. Ken was a foreman at Consumers Supply, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and returned to Consumers Supply. He then operated Ken's Petroleum in Storm Lake, and later returned to Consumers Supply. In 1963 he opened Ken-A-Bob Buffet in Storm Lake, retiring in 1977. Ken was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, AmVets, Senior Citizens and the American Legion. He enjoyed reading, spending time with his grandchildren, travelling, and playing cards, Cribbage and Bingo. Preceding Ken in death were his parents; his wife Genevieve on December 14, 1982; seven sisters: Ella Erickson, Edna Skinner, Laura Sutter, Stella Pearson, Bess Olson, Iva Willeford and Alpha Nissen; and three brothers: Marion, Myrel and Warren.
