Wagner, Ethel A. Gowell 86, of Hart, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006 at Hackley Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby. She was born Oct. 13, 1919 in Shelby, the daughter of Thomas and Edna (Brady) Barritt. She married Kenneth Gowell May 27, 1939. He passed away Jan. 31, 1960. She lived in Shelby until 1942 when she moved to Hart. She married Wilbert Wagner May 22, 1976. He passed away Dec. 24, 1979. Mrs. Wagner worked as a bookkeeper at Steens Co-op and Hart Tractor Sales. She worked in that capacity at Hawley's Nursery from 1955 to 1983. Mrs. Wagner loved to play bridge and was in a club for 60 years. She was a member of Hart Congregational United Church of Christ. Her life was centered around church activities. She sang in the church choir years ago. She was past-treasurer of the United Way. Mrs. Wagner is survived by her children, Thomas (Donna) Gowell of Hilton Head, S.C., Roberta "Bobbie" (Donald) Puffer of The Villages, Fla., and Dorothy (David) Kamhout of New Era; her stepchildren, John (Lorraine) Wagner of Ludington, Larry (Sharon) Wagner of Ludington, and Cathy (Ronald) Aulerich of Montague; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and also stepgreat-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mabel Brooks and Eleanor Dykstra. The funeral service was Sunday, Oct. 15, 3 p.m. at Hart Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Lorraine Boucon officiating. Interment was in Hart Cemetery.
