"TYLER, Gene Arthur (Age 89)
Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away October 21, 2007 in Spokane. He was born May 21, 2007 in Spokane. He was born May 21, 1918 to Samuel Arthur and Eugenia (Coleman) Tyler.
He is survived by his living wife of 54 years, Betty at the family home; their children, Don and Laura Tyler of Moscow, ID., Wayne Tyler, Norman Tyler, Larry Tyler, Diane and John Nicklas all of Spokane, WA; six grandchildren, Kristine Tyler, Zachary Bailey, Bryanna Bailey, Amy, Jacob and Joseph Nicklas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy, son Douglas Raymond Tyler in 1999 and son-in-law Bryan James Bailey in 1992.
Gene lived most of his life in the Spokane area graduating from Lewis and Clark High School Class of 1936. Following graduation he took several courses specializing in communications, he then enlisted in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and served during WWII. After the war he moved to Seattle and worked for Western Electric from 1945-1950. While there he met Betty Anderson in 1951 and they were married September 19, 1953. Returning to Spokane he joined Kaiser Aluminum as an electrical instrument repairman, retiring in 1983.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Cardiac Staff of Sacred Heart Medical Center and the Heart Institute of Spokane. Visitation will be held Friday, 4-8 PM at Hazen & Jaeger Valley. Funeral Service will be held in the Colonial Chapel at Hazen & Jaeger Valley on Saturday, October 27th, 2007 at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Pines Cemetery. In Gene's memory donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation, Cardiac/Thoracic Care, PO Box 2555, Spokane, WA 99220-2555. Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N.
