Mr. James was retired. He was formerly employed by Boyds Florist. Born in New Garden, PA, he had been a resident of Wilmington for most of his life. Son of the late Jefferson Moore James & Catherine Semerteen.
He is survived by his wife, Verna M. Townsend James; daughters, Catherine Hetherington & Verna Keller; sons, Robert E. James, Jr., William M. James, Thomas C. James & Jefferson E. James; step-daughters, Antoinette Long & Patricia Coffman; step-sons, Dennis James, Michael James & Frank Mastroserio; sister, Anna Mae James; 17 grandchildren & numerous great grandchildren.
His interment and memorial service will be held privately.
