Born Dec. 11, 1943, to Jimmie Lou and Romia Lee Rascoe in Corsicana. Pattye attended school in Corsicana until 1957, when her family moved to Midland. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, as a member of the class of 1962. She worked in the administrative field and retired from Schlumberger in Midland before returning to Corsicana. She accepted Christ at an early age and loved the Baptist church. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Midland and joined the Mildred Baptist Church when she relocated to Corsicana. Until her health prevented her participation, she was a member of the Corsicana Cloggers and loved to perform with them. She was an avid artist and reader, and a lover of animals. Her gorgeous smile and contagious laugh will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Jimmie Lou Bush Gan; father, Romia Lee Rascoe, who paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country in World War II; and she was also preceded in death by her husband, George Barr.
She is survived by daughter, Luann Demmler of Midland; son, Chad Barr and wife Amy of Beaufort, S.C.; grandchildren, Brandon Brant, Kristin Brant, and Chris Slaughter; brother, Robert Rascoe and wife Michelle of Emory; sister, Janie Rascoe Pollard of Corsicana; brother, Dan Summerall and wife Patti of Corsicana; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, during a family visitation at Corley Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date in Midland.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to the American Cancer Society or Cedar Lake home Health and Hospice , 625 N. Main St., Corsicana, TX 75151, who were very helpful during these last days.
