Leonard Alton was born in Cleburne, Texas, to the late Hiram H. and Eliza Estelle Tidwell. He worked as a carpenter. Leonard had moved to Little Rock, Ark. to be near a daughter. Leonard served in the United States Army and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1956. He was an expert in anti-aircraft artillery - 75mm gunnery, and he also received a medal for Expert Rifleman. Leonard was in the 5th foremost beret.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Tidwell; and sisters, Nelda Cline and Marlene Clark.
Survivors include his son, Ray Tidwell, of San Angelo; daughters, Lisa McDaniel and her husband, Terry, of Little Rock, Ark., and Sue Tweedle and her husband, Chuck, of Meridian; grandchildren, Miranda, T.J., and Lauren; sister, Margie Bryant, of Grandview; brother, Charles Tidwell, of Ft. Worth; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
