On Friday, February 28, 2003, one of God's soldiers, Betty Louise Head, was called to her heavenly home.

Betty was born on January 23, 1944, to the late James and Bessie Hanson Curtis. She was born in Belzoni, MS, and moved to Chicago, IL at a young age where she was reared. She graduated from Farragut High School and continued her education at Cortex Peter Business College in Chicago.

In 1961, she married her high school sweetheart James Head and to this union, five children were born. God blessed her in later years with her sixth child.

She worked at the Spiegel Alden Post office in Chicago and upon moving to Belzoni became an employee of Jockey International where she served as a supervisor.

Betty gave her life to Christ at Shiloh Deovelente Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. T. Winters. She reaffirmed her belief in God by recommitting herself to Christ and the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Henderson Fields.

She was active in the community, always helping others and because of her commitment to serve others, she joined Hill Temple #783 where she served in various leadership capacities as a Daughter of Elk. Betty will always be remembered for her concern, love, and support for others.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Three sons Ranard Head (Collins, MS), Parris Head (Belzoni, MS), Michael Head (Collins, MS); Three daughters, Valerie Head - Autry
(Wichita, KS), Lisa Head (College Park, GA), and Traci Head (Wichita, KS); Three brothers, Charles Curtis (Betty), James Curtis (Marie), Broderick "Ricky" Curtis (Chicago, IL); one sister, Barbara Porties (Manuel), Chicago, IL; Seven grandchildren, Tamara, LaCandria, Tarra, Thomas, Donte, DaBorah, and Malik.
