Karen Sue Grantham
Karen Sue Grantham, 52, the daughter of Roy Lee and Jo Ann Long Grantham, was born February 11, 1958. She passed away January 19, 2011 in her home in Round Rock, Texas, following a short illness.
Karen was born in Springfield, Missouri, grew up in Mt. Vernon, and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1976. She graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri with a double degree in Business Management and a Masters Degree in Computer Science. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church.
She worked her entire life in the computer field. She was a Data Base Administrator for many years with Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and her last job was for Hewlitt Packard, in Omaha, Nebraska and later in Austin, Texas. She worked on many computer projects and asssited in their development.
Karen enjoyed sports, especially swimming and card games. She loved Table Rock Lake, skiing and scuba diving. She will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her mother and father, Roy and Jo Ann Grantham, of Springfield, Mo.; brother, Lynn Allen and wife Nancy Grantham; twin nephew and niece, Christopher Evan and Chelsie Elizabeth Grantham, all of Weir, Kansas.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 10 a.m., in Wilson-Brim-Daniel Funeral Chapel, Walnut Grove with Reverends Scott Killingsworth and Benny Gard officiating with interment following in GreeneLawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove, Mo.
Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. today in the Walnut Grove Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
The casket will be closed at all times.
