Funeral services for Mr. Luther Thomas Metcalf, 83, of Sycamore, GA will be held Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Metcalf passed away Tuesday at Heritage Health Care in Ashburn following an extended illness. The son of the late Eb Andrew N. and Georgia Spruill Metcalf he was born in Sycamore, GA and spent his entire life in the Sycamore area. He was the retired owner and operator of Metcalf Service Station and farmer. He served his country having served in the US Army. As a member of the Bethel Baptist Church he was a member of the Adult Men's Sunday school Class and was a deacon of the church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Ruth Scoggins Metcalf, a daughter, Jo Ann Metcalf and a brother Hugh Metcalf all of Sycamore, GA. Also surviving is a large number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 15 from five until seven at Perry Funeral Chapel.
