Chico Record (Chico, California) 19 Jan 1946, Saturday Page 8: Mrs. Queen Ashley Former Chicoan, Dies in Oakdale. Mrs. Queen Esther Ashley, 79, a former well known resident of Chico for many years passed away at her home in Oakdale early yesterday morning, according to word received here last night.
Mrs. Ashley was born in Kansas and came to Chico with her parents at the age of four. The husband of the deceased, who survives her, was for many years in the harness business in Chico and had a store on Main Street, which he sold to A. Barth when he and Mrs. Ashley moved to Oakdale in 1917, to make their home.
Mrs. Ashley was active in church work both in Chico and since has moved to Oakdale.
Surviving are her husband, Burton Ashley of Oakdale; a son, Frank Gibson of Tehama and three daughters, Mrs. Jessie Cooper and Mrs. Helen Hoy of Oakland and Mrs. Hazel Murray of Oakdale.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral services Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the Nugent Funeral Chapel. The interment will follow in the family plot of the Chico Cemetery.
