Funeral services for Mattie Lou Dupree Bergt, 76, of Queen City were held Dec. 2, 2004, at Calvary Tabernacle with Rev. Billy Dupree and Faye Yount officiating. Interment followed in Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Mattie Lou was born in Gilliam, La., to Judge and Mary Ann Sprayberry Dupree. Mattie Lou lived part of her life in the Snow Hill area outside Vivian, LA, for part of that time with Carl and Clara Holt. What I remember most about her was her beautiful red hair and I don't remember her without a smile on her face.

She worked for 10 years at Wal-Mart in customer service as a greeter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max; two brothers, Buddy and Junior Dupree; and a granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Dupree. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mac and Juanita Brown of Arlington and Rickey and Mary Dupree of Marshall; one daughter and son-in-law, Molli and Carl Floyd of Odessa; one brother, Jesse Dupree of Rodessa, La.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Hanner Funeral Service in Atlanta.
