Nick Chocas, 75, passed away July 31, 1993 after a valiant battle with cholangiocarcinoma.

Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on November 14, 1917 to Helen and George Chocas. Married Georgia Poulas on January 19, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Nick was a World War II decorated veteran, member of the Fifth Army, First Cavalry Seventieth Regiment; recipient of military honors, including the Purple Heart. Retired in 1978 from the Union Pacific Railroad after 45 loyal years, and devoted the rest of his life to his grandchildren, his garden, and his friends.

He will be deeply missed by those who loved him and understood his passion.

Member of the Greek Orthodox Church; U.P. Old Timers #1; Charter Member of the Ahepa, Cowboy Chapter; 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. All memberships held in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Survived by his wife, Georgia, Midvale; son, George, Cheyenne, Wyoming; daughter, Beth and son-in-law Mike Johnson, Sandy; grandchildren, Theros and Megan; brothers, John and Jim, Cheyenne; Alex, Concord, Calif.; Bill, Memphis, Tenn.; Gust, Denver, Colo.; sisters, Jennie Chocas, Cheyenne; Doris Slife, Longmont, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Argie Markos, Ogden; brother, Tom, Fort Worth, Texas.

Our special thanks go to Dr. Vere Lancaster and the medical staff at Salt Lake Clinic; and to Sidney and Ayako Sharp, and Lyle and Helen Ruble for their love and loyal friendship.

Funeral services Wednesday, August 4, 1993, at 12 noon at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 279 South 300 West. Friends may call Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and Wednesday 11-11:30 a.m. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Holy Trinity Church or Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital.
