My 2nd great Uncle, but my Mama called him Grandpa; therefore I have always referred to him as our Great-Grandpa

Married Nora Belle West on May 29, 1901 which bore him six children. However, upon the death of his brother and sister-in-law in 1912-1913, Uncle John & Aunt Nora reared five of their nieces and nephews. They must have been greatly loved as the children's children called them Grandpa & Grandma.

He loved to spin tall tales about dragons. What kid back in the 1940's had ever heard about dragons? No one knew anything about dragons, so his stories were a real treat to his listeners.

Grandpa Pittman talked about angels. Told the children never to forget to keep an eye out for the angels because they were around. They don't look like what we might think, but they were there to help. Said most angels look like regular people so always be on the lookout for them.

Read his Bible regularly and loved to share the stories with all the children around. He either read to them or told the stories in his own way. Once he told them about Daniel and the lions den and how afraid the lions were of Daniel! Made God's word real to the children!
