Funeral services for Rudolph F. Kampschnieder, 61 of Howells, NE were Monday morning at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Olean, NE and burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Norbert Boland officiated. Military graveside services were conducted by the Howells American Legion. Pallbearers were nephews, Adrian and John Kampschneider, Allen and David Franzluebbers, Robert Heiman and LeRoy Luebbert. He was born to Lorenz (Knust) Kampschneider on Oct. 20, 1917 in rural Cuming County near Dodge and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School at Olean. Kampschneider served in World War II from Dec 1, 1941 to May 29 1945 in the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment. He was wounded in action in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and received a Purple Heart with one bronze oak leaf cluster. He was a staff sergeant and a squad leader. On Sept. 27 1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church he married Josephine Franzluebbers. The couple farmed 1 ½ miles east of Howells. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Survivors include his wife Josephine, sons Gerald of Fremont, Paul and Irvin at home, daughter, Mary Ann and JoAnn of Lincoln, one granddaughter, brothers, Arthur and Clarence of Howells, Robert and Hubert of Dodge, sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Gertrude) Heiman and Mrs. Leona Heiman both of Fremont, Mrs. Leonard ( Alfreida) Wordekemper and Mrs. Leo (Olivia) Luebbert both of West Point.
