She was born February 26, 1936, daughter of the late Herbert & Mabel (Karstaedt) Bratz.
She was a Kiel High School graduate. Joyce received her R.N. Diploma from Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee and her Bachelors Degree from UW Madison. She was employed in the nursing field in the area including St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, Shady Lane Nursing Home, Manitowoc, the home health care in Chilton and surrounding area and Plymouth Hospital. She was a traveling nurse in local nursing homes and worked with the Red Blood Bank. Joyce worked with the commission for aging for Manitowoc County.
Joyce was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Town of Schleswig where she was a member of the Bible Study, member of the youth fellowship and taught Sunday school occasionally. She was also a member of the Calumet County Master Gardeners Association and a 30 year member of the Toastmasters. She enjoyed weaving and attending farmers markets, selling her home grown produce.
Survivors include cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services for Joyce will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 11608 Lax Chapel Road, Kiel with Rev. Ashley Nolte, pastor officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
