William Jeptha Todd Jr., beloved rancher, churchman, and civic leader, was born in Mobeetie, Texas on October 6, 1886. He graduated from the William Jewe; college in Missouri, later attending law schools in Kansas and Texas. He was owner of the Big Timer ranch in Hemphill county, was a steward and trustee of the Methodist Church, past president of the Northeast Panhandle Feeders' Association, a member of the School Board of Trustees, organizer of the Panhandle Pioneer Club, a Knights Templar, and for many years served as chairman of the Hemphill County Democratic Committee.

In 1917, Mr. Todd married Miss Estelle Patton, who survives him. Other relatives include his nephew, Captain Dale Nix, of California, whom he adopted and reared; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Henson.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church; the Reverends J.O. Quattlebaum and Uel D. Crosby officiating.

Jep was loved and respected by all who knew him, and his many kind deeds and acts will always be remembered by the people of North Texas.
