Obituary for Ruth Marie Winn Davis:

Daily Democrat, Clinton MO - Ruth Marie (Winn) Davis was born in Deepwater February 12, 1924, and died in Clinton, November 13, 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Alfred Winn; her brothers. Charles Lee and Lester Winn; sister. Ethel Mae Winn; two nephews and one niece. As a young lady she met and married Vernon "Ray" Davis in 1941 and to this union were born twin girls, Marilyn and Carolyn. The family lived in and around Deepwater and Montrose where they were engaged in farming and retail business and 1966 found the Davis Lumber Co. In Deepwater, which they operated until 1983 at which time they moved to. Tucson, Arizona, due to health reasons. They managed a mobile park until their return to Clinton in 1991. Ruth had a deep and abiding faith in God, being raised a Baptist. Upon moving to Montrose, Ruth and Ray joined the Montrose Methodist Church where their membership remained for more than 40 years. Ruth was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. which she loved. She was Past Matron of both the Appleton City Olive Branch 157 in 1967 and Clinton Chapter 73 in 1981. She was honored by this organization and served as the District Deputy Grand Matron in 1971 and appointed Grand Representative of Nebraska in Missouri in 1983. She became affiliated with the International Order of Rainbow for girls, serving as Mother Advisor for eight years, being honored by receiving the Grand Cross of Color. Ruth is survived by her husband, Vernon Davis of the home; sister, Grace Lewis of Clinton; daughters, Marilyn Greer of Phoenix, Arizona, and Carolyn Wells and husband, Harvey of Raytown; her grandchildren, Dena, Rick, Troy and Robert Greer, Cheryl Morgan and Cynthia Carmack; six great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; two brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; 10 nieces and nephews; a host of cousins and uncountable friends. Funeral services were held at the Vansant-Mills Chapel. Thursday, November 16. Burial was in the Clinton Memory Gardens.
