Funeral services for C.C. (Cal) Acker, 40, of Rolling Hills Estates, a Decatur accountant who died Sunday at Hartselle Hospital, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. W.J. Johnson, Elder Robert Bullington and Elder Robert Droubay officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Guntharp Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Juanita Acker, Decatur; a son, William Michael Acker, Decatur; two daughters, Miss Susan Acker, Decatur, and Miss Kathaleen Acker, also of Decatur; two brothers, R.T. Acker, Decatur and Col. Ivan B. Acker, Philadelphia, Penn; mother, Mrs. W.O. Acker, Bessemer; four sisters, Mrs. Nealy Oglesby, Bessemer, Mrs. Ethel Blanton, Bessemer; Mrs. Rasine Price, Bessemer and Mrs. Thara Nichols, Birmingham.
Pallbearers will be A.H. Harton, Lucian McCulloch, Carl Murphree, Carl McMasters, Jack Hunter and Miles Powell. The body will remain at the funeral home until time to be taken to the church where it will lie in state one hour prior to services.
Mr. Acker, a native of Bessemer, attended public schools there and later Tulane University where he graduated in 1946 with a bachelor of arts degree. He later earned the certified public accountant rating in 1956.
He was married in 1947 to the former Miss Juanita Holland of Birmingham.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Elks, Lions, Moose clubs and the American Legion.
Mr. Acker opened his own accounting firm approximately 10 years ago. He was a member of the Alabama and National Certified Public Accountants associations.
