A native of Caledonia, Minn., he graduated from the University of Iowa dental school in 1891 and practiced in Iowa for nine years (in Calmar, Iowa) before moving to Milwaukee. After his graduation from Milwaukee Medical school (now a part of Marquette University), Dr. Belding lectured in dietetics there. He began practice as a dentist, then practiced several years as a physician, and returned to dental practice. He was a member of the county dental society and the American Dental association and had belonged to the county medical society, the American Medical association, City club, Knights of the Round Table Service club, Izaak Walton league, Arion Musical club, South Side Community club and Sons of Veterans.
While in Iowa, he married Alice M. Potter abt 1890 or 1891. They lived in Calmar and had three daughters; Ione, Daisy and Margaret. All died young. His wife, Alice, died in 1899.
On October 14, 1903, George married Helen M. Field in Chippewa, Wisconsin. They had a daughter Alice.
On October 8, 1910, George married Louise M. Nohl in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Between 1920-1930, George married Cora.
