Mrs. Rachel Alice Bradford, 81, a former resident of Newark, died at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. Robert Vernon, of Parkersburg, Thursday morning July 2. Funeral services were held Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home. The Rev. C.W. Bollinger officiated and burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Born in Roane County January 25, 1889, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret Hunt, and was a member of the Stephenson Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Vernon, at whose home she died; four sons, James Elwood Bradford, Parkersburg, Thomas of Columbus, O.; William, Midland, Pa., and C. R. Bradford, Hobe Sound, Fla., one step-daughter, Mrs. Edward Melvin, Midland, Pa., two step-sons, J. W. Bradford, Charleston, and B.F. Bennett, Huntington; three brothers, Charles, Jackson, O., Orland and Oscar Hunt, both of Huntington; one sister, Mrs. Verna Taylor, Phoenix, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bradford was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Bradford, two sons, C.W. and E.M. Bennett; and by four brothers and one sister.
