Dr. Belding received his education in Caledonia schools and graduated from the University of Iowa Dental School in 1894. Before going to college, he taught school several years in Minnesota. He practiced a short time in Calmar, Iowa, with his brother, Dr. George Belding. He then located in Waucoma in 1894.
He was married to Effie Rockwood on June 28, 1895 at Waucoma. They had four children: Paul H., LeVerne A. (who was killed in World War I), Leland J. and Arlene F.
Dr. H. H. Belding was Waucoma's first dentist. He followed his profession for 33 years until 1927. His son, Dr. Paul H. Belding, entered in partnership with his father in 1919.
Dr. Belding was a member of local Standard Lodge A.F. and A.M. No. 351; served as mayor, member of the board of education and was active in community affairs.
