Mark A. "Metzie" Metz, 42, Rockwood, passed on May 26, 2009. Born June 15, 1966, in Somerset, the son of Lawrence "Butch" Metz of Rockwood and Linda Marker of Rockwood. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Galen and Mabel (Trimpey) Marker, and paternal grandmother, Mary (Pritts) Metz. He is survived by his parents; paternal grandfather, Lawrence R. Metz of Somerset; brother, Joel Metz and wife Paula (Meyers) of Somerset; niece, Jeannette Metz; Violet Hall Metz Miller of Rockwood; uncles, Vernon "Buck" Metz of Somerset, and Jerry Metz and wife Christine of South Carolina; and several cousins. Mark was the longtime owner of the Merchant's Hotel in Rockwood. He was a member of the Somerset County Old-Timers' Baseball Association and was a charter member of the Rockwood Historical Society. He was a member of the Meyersdale Lodge 554 of the F&AM, the Altoona Jaffa Shrine, and the Harrisburg Consistory. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Rockwood, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Pastor Randy C. Newell officiating. Interment at Rockwood IOOF Cemetery.
